About the Occupational English Test (OET)
The Occupational English Test (OET) is a test of English for healthcare professionals. The OET is used in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland among others to assess the Medical English skills of a wide range of healthcare professionals, including doctors.
Healthcare professionals require a grade B in the OET to work in the UK. Grade B is an advanced level of English, equivalent to IELTS band 7 and C1 in the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
Course outline
This 36-hour online course gives you the language skills and the test techniques and strategies to achieve a Grade B in each of the four papers in the international Occupational English Test (OET).
The course is fun and interactive, with multiple activities, video and audio inputs and expert insights. The course is online, so you can study where you want.
On this course, you will learn:
- the grammar, vocabulary and skills you need to perform at a high level
- a wide range of language functions used in clinical settings
- how to understand academic medical texts and answer many different questions on them
- practice test questions on all four of the skills, so you know what to expect in the real test and can enter the exam room with confidence.
This 36-hour, online course is designed for nurses with an upper-intermediate or advanced (B2-C1) level of English.
